Partners

Trinh Nguyen (LL.M –Aust) Founding Partner

Ms Trinh Nguyen is one of a few Vietnamese lawyers who gain admission to practice at the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia. Ms Trinh has accumulated her experience over almost 15 years as a corporate and construction lawyer in Vietnam with local and international law firms. Her experience is honed by working at International firms such as Freehills, Phillip Fox (in Vietnam) and HopGood Ganim (in Australia) and leading national firm in Vietnam.  Ms Trinh has been exposed to a myriad of issues that can arise in a construction, engineering procurement project and the corporate life of a company when it does business in Vietnam.

Her vision /passion is to build up a solid legal team of young competent Vietnamese lawyers capable of providing legal services at international standard.

Prior to establishing Trinh Nguyen & Partners, Ms Trinh was a partner at one of the largest local firm overseeing significant corporate and contractual negotiation on behalf of the firm.

Dr. Phan Huy Hong- Partner

Our other partner is Dr Phan Huy Hong who had lived and practiced law in Germany for 18 years. After receiving his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Leipzig (Germany) he worked as an in house counsel for respected German Companies.   In 2001 he decided a change of course which saw him return to Vietnam to lecture at the reputable Law University of Ho Chi Minh City. Whilst doing this he has also acted on a consultant basis in his areas of expertise which encompasses competition law, corporate law and securities regulations, foreign investment law and commercial law. At the moment he is involved in a test case of the Competition Law by advising a large national company on restraint of trade issue.

Special consultants

Kenneth E. Barden – US attorney of 28 years experience in construction, public procurement and project finance

Our special consultants with qualifications from various jurisdictions work closely with the local team to provide inputs and advise on the matters which require knowledge on international practice. 

We are honoured to work with Mr. Kenneth Barden, a US attorney of 28 years experience, who brings to our clients a wealth of experience in construction laws, corporate laws and banking laws while being an independent consultant for World Bank, ADB and various Governments including Vietnamese Government on infrastructure, corporate governance issues. 

Bryan Wicks- a  foreign consultant with over 12 years experience in Vietnam

Having worked at several international law firms in Ho Chi Minh city prior to joining us as a consultant, Bryan Wicks bring to the firm’s clients valuable advice on business laws.

As an American attorney with over a decade living and working in Vietnam Bryan is familiar with issues often facing foreign clients, thus, could help clients to be realistic with their business goals in Vietnam and identify the possible structure to achieve such set business goals.

Bryan’s clients include FMCG companies, Marketing & Advertising, Oil & Gas, Health & Physical Fitness, Food, and individual investors. 

In addition, Bryan Wicks is a guest lecturer teaching International Law for Executive MBA and BA degree programs at prestigious universities in Ho Chi Minh City.

Dr. Bui Xuan Hai- Senior Counsel

Dr. Bui Xuan Hai, the Dean of Commercial Laws Faculty of the Law University of Ho Chi Minh City. Dr. Hai earned his Phd degree in Melbourne and has hands on experience in handling legal matters while heading a law practice prior to his academic career.Dr Hai is specilased in inward and outward investment, corporate governance, M&A, competition law, bankruptcy and insolvency, litigation and arbitration.

Dr. Hai is highly respected among the academics and practitioners having attended various international seminars and workshops.  Dr. Hai has published his work in prestigious legal journals.
